Who We Are

Glenn Mickelson, CFP®

Glenn is the president and founder of Professional Financial Solutions, LLC. He completed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional Education Program in 1996 and became a CFP® professional in 1997. Glenn is also a Registered Financial Advisor of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).

A native of Seattle, WA, he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Central Washington University in 1985. Glenn held various positions in accounting prior to starting his career in the financial planning field in 1995. He also was an adjunct instructor at George Washington University and taught in their CFP® certificant program.

Glenn was widowed in 2016 after his wife of 28 years passed away from complications related to ALS. He has two adult daughters, one of whom is married and has a son. He enjoys skiing and staying fit, going to Woody’s Ice Cream (sometimes in one of his ’69 Mustangs), traveling, and playing guitar with Day Job, a local blues band.



Mike McLenigan, CFP®

Mike is vice president and co-owner of Professional Financial Solutions, LLC. He completed the CFP® Professional Education Program and passed the CFP® exam in 1999. Mike is also a Registered Financial Advisor of NAPFA.

Originally from southern New Jersey, Mike received a bachelor’s degree in 1986 and an MBA in finance in 1995 from Virginia Tech. Previously, Mike held positions at a major telecommunications firm, two regional financial institutions, and a mutual fund company.

Mike is married and has three adult children. He is an avid runner, including having run several full and half marathons, and he coaches youth track and cross country for SYA.



Renee Sewall, CFP®

Renee serves as a financial adviser on a part-time basis and is a co-owner of Professional Financial Solutions, LLC. She completed the CFP® Professional Education Program through the University of Richmond and passed the CFP® exam in July 2014.

After growing up in the Philadelphia suburbs, Renee received a bachelor’s degree in public policy with a minor in finance from Princeton University in 2005, and a master’s in International Relations and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in 2009. Prior to joining PFS in May 2013, she worked for the federal government and a major government consulting company.

Renee is married and has four children. She enjoys biking, playing soccer, attending activities at her church, and picking up Legos off the floor.



Drew Crowe, CFP®

Drew serves as a paraplanner for Professional Financial Solutions, LLC. He graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2016, where he received a bachelor’s degree in finance while completing a CFP® education program. He successfully completed the CFP® exam in November 2016.

Drew moved to Arlington from Lynchburg when he began working at PFS in July 2016, and he has enjoyed experiencing everything that the DC area has to offer. He likes to stay active and enjoys biking and golfing, as well as cheering on the Hokies and DC area sports teams.



Megan Hartman

Megan is the Office Manager of Professional Financial Solutions, LLC. She brings several years of experience working as an administrative assistant for two local small businesses. She hails from Northern Virginia, born and raised, and graduated from C.D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge in 2005. She has been with Professional Financial Solutions, LLC since November 2014.

Megan is married and enjoys spending time with her family and her dogs. She also enjoys staying fit and goes to the gym regularly.

Qualifications of a Certified Financial Planner™

Each CFP® professional must complete the following requirements set by the CFP Board:

Complete a comprehensive education program on the various aspects of personal financial planning;

Pass a rigorous examination and gain the requisite years of professional experience; and

Maintain technical competence and abide by a code of ethical conduct.
